The News
My son called me one day last week....asked how I was and how things were going. I blathered on about my little life and my headache and Pilates class. Poor guy opens a can and I spill everything out. He's always been such a caring guy and a good listener to boot. Even though I was definately in the Mother Role when he was growing up, I felt like he was my little buddy.
During the phone call, I did have the decency to pause and give him a chance to talk because I really do care SO very much about what's going on with him.
He mentioned something about baby number 5. A fifth child. Feeling stressed. Needing to believe that everything would be okay and God will provide. I mentally picked myself up off the floor and found myself encouraging him, which encouraged me! I thought of all my friends who've had "large" families. Not one has shot anybody. A little crazy at times ( maybe?) but all in all, God DOES give us what we need and then some!
So, hallelujah, another precious being will hopefully come into our family around...Labor Day!

woohoo. congratulations to you all. Always a blessing.
I love that picture of your son.
I can relate to your phone call. It is fun having these relationships with our big kids. Sometimes I blabber on and other times I listen...it is good.
awww congrats to them.....i LOVEEEE seeing big families, they actually fascinate me. May God bless them & you! How exciting!!!!
oh how often i start in with my stuff... then realize my listener has a much heavier load.
congrats. on the grandchild.... and the lesson.
Woohoo! Another grandbaby! I love it! Congratulations my friend!
This is the best of news!
@ABAHM - I love the relationship with my big kid and his little wife! They're friends! I really can't wait for your grandchild to arrive! Your life will change! <3
@mellibella - I'm glad you love seeing big famlies! That means if you saw my son and his family, you wouldn't sneer at them or glare with dissapproving, judgemental eyes. They thought 4 was enough. God said something different!
Oh Congratulations! What a joy and a blessing to have a new baby in the family. It has been 14 years since our last grandchildren were born. Now we have a new step-great grandson I can hardly wait to get my hands on him and give him some cuddles.I think we all do as you said you did. We are so happy when the kids call and we want to fill them in on everything. What ages are your son's children? How many grandchildren so you have? We have 8 and now this new step great grandbaby.
@Richgem - love it when God does that!
@ehrinn_l - You're so right! I have found that the listener has a heavier load and then I feel bad for taking so much time with my own! I need to get caught up on your life!
@oldfatgramma - I love you for saying, "This is the best of news!"!!!
What an exciting fall you are going to have -- yikes -- 5 grandchildren already!
yeah for them! Tell him we're expecting # 5 also, and already we've seen how God is providing!!!
Well congratulations!!! Hope all goes well for them.
oops just saw your comment above. I only had 3 children and wish we had more. Hey when someone remarks about a married couple having more children I counter that by bluntly saying,"married couples have sex, sex causes babies, so who should be having sex and these babies but married couples".
Congratulations! SO how close by does your son live?
It must be overwhelming for this younger generation, basic things are so expensive...thank goodness they have God! Have you ever been to A. Ann's site: http://resolved2worship.xanga.com/
She just announced she's pregnant with her 8th child! They get by on prayer and a shoestring and much love.
@Lucy_or_Ethel - After 14 years, I bet you ARE ready to cuddle that new baby! Our son and daughter-in-love have given us 4 grands. Next month they will be 6.5, 3 and baby will be 16 months. I will do a blog on them soon. Such amazing little people, they are!
@slmret - Oh, you just made me laugh! i MISS you! Yes, "yikes", but in a good way!
@floridayankees - JILL! I've been thinking of and praying for you! I'm SO glad to know that God is providing for you! He IS faithful! Please, when your number 5 arrives, blast the news on here! I want to know!!! ( 8
@jans_corner - Thank you, Jan! Please pray for them!
@Lucy_or_Ethel - Giggles from me! And my son and daughter-in-love say that no, they're not crazy!
@maryhurlbut - O.M. Goodness for Alyssa! I love her! Anyway, my son is only 20-25 min. away. It's wonderful. We help them alot and know it IS difficult for the younger generation to survive. Cost of living is inSANE.
@Richgem - haha -- yes, yikes in a wonderful happy-for-you way! Congratulations, Grandma!
aww...I wish I had 5!! Congratulations to you all!
btw: a nice looking son you have there
@betheelou - Maybe someday, soon, you'll have a Grand; kinda makes up for the babies you didn't get to have.
@Lucy_or_Ethel - Thank you!
Wonderful blessing! Just wonderful.
That is wonderful news!! I am quite partial to Five! Our fifth one was the easiest baby of all... the other kids were so smitten with him that I barely got to hold him!! They still adore him and he's 12 years old!! What a blessing for you!!
cool! and congratulations! how wonderful!
Congrats! How wonderful!
@TrentTribe - It IS, isn't it! I know the months will fly by!
@Byers7 - That's good to know! The other little ones are glad they'll have another sibling; the older two already are so helpful with little Andrew. I am the 2nd of five and I adore my "baby" brother who is 38 now!
@down_onthefarm - Thanks, Dearie! I'm working hard on getting into shape so I can be more helpful!
@SealedbyGrace - Yes, absolutely! You know the saying, "Wonders never cease"? Well, it seems like the GrandWonders never cease! Five in 6 years!
YAY!!!! So EXCITING!!!!! Congratulations! =)
@Elizabethmarie_1 - Thanks, Liz! We believe God will sustain us all and I am also excited to have another little one to photograph!
@Richgem - He always does. Without Him, that little one wouldn't be!
Children are such a Blessing. =)
@Elizabethmarie_1 - They truly are. You and a bunch of my xanga friends seem like amazingly wonderful moms. And that alone is such an encouragement to me!
Congratulations to you all!
Congratulations!! I listen to my son and his wife talk about some of their struggles financially (they have four children of their own and are in the process of adopting #5 child - precious Brianna) and they lean on the Lord! They have to! They enjoy the little things in life - the little miracles. Just today my daughter-in-law said she told her children that they need to hang socks and underwear outside on the line to dry instead of using the dryer. Over winter she likes to allow them to use the dryer for those small things but their last electric bill was really high.
I believe you are right on in saying God thought they needed #5. Blessings as you encourage them. It sounds like that phone call was exactly that!
how exciting, Gail! so happy for you all~
i was just thinking today about my youngest brother {the #5 of our family} who'll be 20 tomorrow... there's almost 17 years between us! and i just cannot imagine life without him. the older we get the closer we become. God knows what we need and puts families together just perfectly, doesn't He!
congratulations. xoxo
