  • Pleasant Surprise

    This is a time when something happy and encouraging needs to happen and or be spoken...because so much strife is going on around the world. On a regular basis I communicate with God. I mentally open my heart and thank Him for all that He is and all that He does. Even when "all" means pain. EsPECially when "all" means delight. Oh, I've had plenty of concerns lately (again). Not everything is hunky dory but I know that there is a PEACE that is greater than my little heart can fathom. But my heart DOES believe. Therefore, I am calm. Trusting. Waiting for an answer. An answer that I can handle with His help. Don't we all want that? ( 8

    Today, Hubby had to take his restorative nap (details on why, later) before we could go out again. He is such a trooper. I am on a search for a working fountain in which to use as a backdrop for a photo shoot next Saturday. NONE of the fountains in our town were on. I am trusting God to provide a working one. In the meantime, I also was on a quest this week to find a new hairstylist. Actually, I've wanted a new one for the past year or two but just now decided to seriously pursue that desire, again, trusting God to take care of it for me. This is a subject that rankles (LOVE that word) some dear friends of mine. Ya know, trust God to make something happen...KNOW that He will provide if you JUST ask, blah, blah, blah. And then He doesn't come through. Or, at least it SEEMS He doesn't come through. I know, I was there, once upon a time. Still am, sometimes. So anyway, we're driving around looking for fountains and I told my Hub to please go over to that main road and turn right where the new little office buildings are. He did. No fountain. But oo-oo-oo, LOOK! A NEW salon! An open door! On a SATURDAY? Hubby parked after I asked if I could just real quick see if they're really open. (He already knew of my desire to find a new hair person.) Not ONly were they "kind of" open, the little gal I spoke with happened to be willing to answer my questions, look through my hair and, of course, make me the appointment I wanted. She was visibly moved, excited, when I told her how I ended up there. I'm sure this was a GOD thing. So, I'm all set for Thursday in a great,spacious salon with a genuinely charming, young hairstylist who knows exactly what I want and need for my hair/self-esteem. I still don't have a fountain, but I know something will work out. Like, the weather will significantly warm up and ALL of the fountain caretakers will get them bubbling!

    Another pleasant surprise that happened this week is God brought a new friend into my life. Her name is Lisa. She's from Wisconsin. Her daughter will live with us this summer and is friends with my daughter. The girls met at college. I had hoped that the Mom and I would "hit it off" and well, we DID! We were both thrilled to have several things in common, including our March birthdays. We had SUCH a fun visit on Tuesday, I hated to say good-bye! But we will see each other again.

    Isn't it great when little, fun surprises happen? This isn't all. There have been more. Well, like getting the shots I did this afternoon. I FINally got a duck I'm happy with! Woo-hoo! But wait. The fact that I've been functioning while my daughter has been in Texas since Thursday is great. I've been coping with my Hubby's newly diagnosed hyperthyroid...waiting for scan results...hoping that a safe medication is all he needs. He gets so wiped out exhausted, just like I did last summer. (Thus, the naps.) Only, thankfully, no chest pain. Just a racing heart that is being tamed with a beta blocker. This is the stuff that belongs to OLD people, isn't it?

    Pleasant surprises are essential to the well-being of just about everyone I know. May you be blessed by at least one this next week!

  • @slmret - Thank you, dear Janet! Brianne's friend is a sweet girl! I try to take care of Rich! He really wants to get back to normal and so do I! Maybe we'll hear something on Monday.  Hugs to you!

  • that lake picture is beautiful!  Hope your husband gets well soon!

  • Your pics are stunning. I do hope you folks gets good news about his health Monday. You are having major things happening. Pleasant surprises are what helps keep us looking ahead. Great post my friend.  I hope you find a working fountain. You must have a major project in mind.

  • you are AmAzinG! those shots are just gorgeous.

    for me, it kinda ties in with Him not coming through in the ways that i want
    {i so got what you wrote}
    The Creator made that? !
    He delights in these details {flowers, colors, rocks, critters} on this planet? !
    oh that's right.
    He also counts the hairs on my head
    and surprises us with new stylists :)
    {happy dance with you}
    and walks the thyroid journey too.
    {hoping! saying a prayer for good news.}

    love to you friend.
    and now i am looking forward to the fun kind of surprises
    with His fingerprints...

  • Your pictures are gorgeous as always.  I love your "eye" for beauty.  I so wish I could find a hair stylist like that........it has been over 5 yr. and I am still at the mercy of my dear friend in Canton.    All three of my children (now all adults) have hypothyroidism.  I had a partail thyroidectomy but they said I would need to go on meds but my tests always come back in normal range.  So I do know how tired your hubby can get.  Keep us posted.

  • Yeah for nice surprises and I am happy to hear you found a place to get your hair done.  I so need some hair therapy.  I know I would feel so much better.  I love getting my hair done.  It is such a wonderful treat.

  • @redladybug18 - Thanks, Gabrielle! I've been told of a nice lake near you that has a restaurant next to it! My girl is so in love with that area!  Hubby is improving a nit. THANK GOD!

  • @Lucy_or_Ethel - Good news; it's only a hyperthyroid that will be treated with medication! ( 8   The fountain is a request by a friend who wants photos of a group if people in front of or around it, to be used for posters. Yikes!

  • @down_onthefarm - ( 8 "...fun kind of suprises with His fingerprints."  Love that! Thanks for doing the happy dance with me! Isn't it SO fun to have a reason for the happy dance! I will pray that you will have your own God's fingerprints reason for a happy dance!  Keep lighting up the world with that gorgeous smile!!!

  • @oldfatgramma - Invisible hug to you right now! That thyroid stuff is tricky! Hubby's scan showed a hyper one. He talks to doc on Wednesday and probably go on medication. I sure hope it helps! We think he might have it from being a "Downwinder" (from nuclear tests done not far from his childhood home in Nevada). Is yours hereditary?

  • @rugbana - Big smile on my face because of your phrase "hair therapy"!!! That's exACTly what I am going for! It is SUCH a treat and I haven't gone for the real deal for a LONG time, because my old hair person didn't do much other than trim and paint some harsh highlights on wherever he felt like it. I love him as a person, but it's time for a positive change. I can't wait!

  • @Richgem - @redladybug18 - I mean improving a Bit!

  • @Richgem - No, Josh is our youngest and he got it when he was 6.  He was the tallest in his kindergarten class and the shortest in first grade.  No one would listen to us that he had a problem until we demanded they do a thyroid test.  Normal is 4-7; Josh's tsh level was 635!  Susan and Jon got it when they were out of college and I had my thyroidectomy in 2000.   No one on either side of our family has any thyroid problems.

  • @Richgem - yeah lake Belton is beautiful and the dead fish grill I've heard is good but I've never been there.

  • @oldfatgramma - Wow! That's a scary number! Hubby's is .01 - which he says is low.

  • @redladybug18 - Dead Fish Grill! That's where they ate! They're at Six Flags today. Then back to Belton tomorrow for 'Sader Days.  Brianne's boyfriend's brother and wife might know someone who knows you. I'll message their names.

  • Fountains are pretty. We don't have any here though:( It's ok we have plenty of rivers, creeks, lakes, ponds and waterfalls to make up for it:)

  • Yes, pleasant surprises are so special, especially to us women.  I love your pictures!

    You'll have to post a pic of your new 'do.

  •  @Richgem -  It is a scary number.  They said he should have been dead with a # like that.  .01 is low.

  • @litupwishes - Sounds like a nice watery place you live in!!! As it turns out, I'm going to do the photos at my favorite lake, which is pictured here. I'm glad I was given that option!!!

  • @jessnboyz - We women DO need pleasant surprises! ( 8  I will post a photo of my new "do"!

  • Glad to hear that Rich is alright, and pray he finds just the right meds.  My honey is finding he is more tired of late, despite exercise.  Hard getting older!  My mom, who looks fab for her age, was complaining she has to take a nap everyday.  She was afraid something was seriously wrong, but her friends all assured her they need naps now too!
    Love the blue blue blue of that lake Gail.  Beautiful composition with the ducks.
    Love how you trust in God's leading.  That has come up quite a bit in our life of late, and I think it is becoming more natural.  Yay!
    Love to you!
