so that I could get a hug and a picture and send it to his mama, who is one of my dearest and longest friends. This cowboy is Amos Carver, a stuntman extraordinaire who gets phone calls for jobs from Hollywood peeps. Amos was a little sparkle in his mama’s womb when I met him. Later, he was a cute little red-haired boy. God knew I’d need to fall in love with a little red-haired boy, because years later, he’d give me one of my own. Amos grew up on a ranch in California. Therefore, he knows all the ins and outs of ranch life and more. I’m so very impressed with the way his wonderful parents raised him and his siblings! Today, after not having seen him for a few years and after his mama hadn’t seen him since December, I was thrilled to get a few hugs, a little conversation between stunt gigs in our town and a photo op. He is such a wonderful young man, as I knew long ago he’d turn out to be. Early this evening, I felt like God gave me an extra blessing with a touch of pink in the sky. The pink was glowing through the trees in our back yard. Nancy, Amos’s mama would love that.

Amos is a fun kid- and I am so proud of the way he has dreamed big and worked hard and is now seeing some of his dreams come true….I just wish he could get full time work doing what he loves- stunts! This business is a difficult one to get in to…it’s all about who you know..
I pray he meets the right people and that God would direct his step to the right places, so that he can get more jobs…and be able to support his wife and maybe a little family? I would so love that for them….I know that is in his heart too…it must be tough..being a man…responsible…carrying the weight of his wife and home on his shoulders…wanting to be a success and yet wanting to live his dreams….wanting to risk to reach that dream and yet being afraid of failure and all the nay sayers (some in the family) who would quickly say “i told you so”….but I keep cheering him on, trying to be positive,,,,,,and hoping and praying that he can reach his dreams….and feel fufilled and happy and satisfied…….
if GOD really has something else for him, then I would love for GOD to show it to him,…..
meanwhile…. I take every one of his calls, (usually one a week! aren’t I a lucky momma?!) show my pride, share in his excitement and his disappointments and tell him I love him…..and miss him……and wait for the next time I hear his cheery voice on the other end of the line- “Hi, mom!”……..
BTW- Gail- Amos will be 29 this November!!!!!~ just 4-5 mos younger than your Jonathan??
@NewsyNancy - That’s one of the things I love about you…encouraging your children to pursue their dreams and wanting God to direct their steps. And yes, Amos does have a cheery voice! As soon as I heard it, I remembered how cheerful he sounds and wanted to just keep listening to him. He is only 4 months younger than Jonathan. I remember their first visit as babies at our townhouse in Phoenix. SO cute! I need to dig out those old pictures of them! Nance, you really should write your xanga blogs. I think it’s time. I’ll share my friends with you!

Hi Gail, I loved this post and story. Wow, you know a stuntman and he is a great guy. I am sure his life is both exciting and a little worrisome having to wait for stunt jobs. I have no idea what that would be like. Nice you got to see him. God is good.
