  • So, I Went to Texas and Met…

    DSC_0392edit

this lovely young lady. Some of you have read redladybug. Some of you have received wonderful little comments from her. In person, she is as special as she is in Xangaland. When she walked into the little coffee shop where we agreed to meet, I knew right away it was her. There’s just something so cool about meeting a xanga friend in person, when you KNOW you were supposed to meet them! I also introduced her to my daughter who is just a little younger than Gabrielle and is now living in the same area. The two girls seemed to get along just fine and have a couple of things in common. What a blessing! I only wish we could’ve had more time together, but we were glad to squeeze in an hour or so before we had to go our separate ways.

Since my arrival home, I’ve been exhausted and plunking through the days with a heaviness over my eyes, plus one eyelid has been swollen. I wish I could take my head off, wash it up real good, vacuum it out and put it back on.

Our house has a different feeling now that it’s just me and hubby. Our college kids are more than a thousand miles away. That’s just too stinkin far, but I know I’m not the only mom who’s had to watch her “youngins” fly off like that.  Thankfully, our oldest son and his family live nearby. I got some much needed lovin’ from the 5 little Grandwonders today and my daughter-in-love treated me to a home baked cinnamon roll. Such sweetness is good for the soul.

Yesterday was not a good day and I told myself that maybe an enemy was shooting some wicked arrows at me. You know, THAT enemy. I hate it when that happens. When I think I’m “over” that, when I think “that” isn’t happening but realize it is and oh, the ache that attacks the heart. And sometimes Jesus’s words go in one ear and out the other; “Gail, you have everything you need in ME”. And my response?  “Yeah, but…” And he goes, “Rest in ME”. me; “Okay, but…” He says, “I love you best”. I quiet down and let “it” go and let his words stop in my head and sink into my spirit.  It’s tough, isn’t it, when an issue that’s old but not dealt with, gets buried and forgotten and then it pops up in it’s stale yet very much alive ugliness. That’s my life. I’m classic human and I know a peace today that I didn’t have yesterday.

So, now I’d like to get off of my box and go read your posts.

  • Xanga friend meetings are awesome!

  • How nice that not only you met another Xangan, but that your daughter will enjoy her as well. I hope they become fast friends!

  • @slmret - I hope so, too, Janet. She’s such a nice girl and I loved that the two of them chatted so easily!

  • @Richgem - Maybe we can meet one day!!

  • @southern_bygrace - That would be so wonderful!

  • How fun you were able to meet redladybug….and how fun that she got to meet you!!! =)
Meeting xanga friends in real life is so fun. One of the funniest stories for me was when I found out a xanga friend only lived about 20 minutes away from me!!! AND..I already was friends with her sister! AND…their family is good friends of my sister’s husband. How crazy was that?

So it’s a new season for you.
No children at home (right now) and lots of alone time with your hubby. It has to be hard in someways, but also nice in some ways.

    Happy Thursday to you. =)

  • Good Morning sweetie…

    hope you are feeling better

. I so understand what you mean…….been having the same issues this week with stuff. I try not to bring it up on my blog as of late because if I did, it would be all you’d read!!! I think tho what makes it harder is the fact the we

    KNOW

what we should be doing/thinking/etc, but our bodies and mind say otherwise. I have even been having nightmares about certain things and situations again.

I’ve got to meet several of my xanga buddies, its so WONDERFUL!!! You get kinda anxious and butterflies in your stomach and then when you get in their presence, it all goes away!

Yep, a new season. You need to go read my blog from monday ~ its got a paragraph toward the end on seasons!!!

  • @Elizabethmarie_1 - That’s amazing that you have a xanga friend so close to you! What a funny, small world! I have a couple of long time best friends who come here to read my blog but they don’t blog. But that’s different from meeting complete strangers who have been on Xanga. I love great friends, old and new!  And yes, it’s hard in certain ways, just being the two of us. Flat out boring right now, though I’m enjoying the quiet pace to rest in. I do wake up in the morning still expecting to hear the noise of my daughter’s footsteps, the bathroom door opening and closing several times,  and like our dog, I keep thinking the extra car is going to pull in out front. So , it’ll take awhile to find the new normal! { ;  Happy Thursday to YOU, too!

  • @victoriantomboy - And good morning to you, too! I’m guessing your morning is pretty much over, so I hope and pray the rest of your day goes easy. I guess we just need to remember that God knows what’s all going on and we must trust him and his way. Always. I’ll go read your blog.

  • Hi Gail, nice to see you and your photo. I must be great to meet nice Xanga people in person. I envy you.

All of our kids are gone—lone ago. We had our 3 kids early and together, so they were gone in our early 40′s. lol

My wife talks about ‘our enemy’ a lot.  Sometimes she says he  (satan) must send retarded demons to mess with her. lol

Anyway, have a very nice day and weekend,

    frank

  • Getting to meet a friend i think that is Wonderful!
    Have a great night!

  • I have met 6 Xanga friends, and all of them were delightful.

  • Yes it was SO fun meeting you!  We’ll have to do it again next time your down!
Hope you get back to feeling better.  Being under the weather is no fun.
Even though your kids are gone at least you’ve gone one around and I’m sure the grandwonders can keep you plenty busy :)
Thanks for sharing your honest words about your heart.  totally know what you mean as I’ve been through that too.

  • @ANVRSADDAY - It IS nice to meet xanga friends in person! Gabrielle is my 5th one and each person is absolutely wonderful!  So, did you have a hard time adjusting to the empty nest? Oh, your wife sounds funny. I’m pretty sure the enemy sends demons out to bother people, but I do know that we have the power to fight and win, YAY!

  • @a_thousandmiles - It is wonderful and broadens my little world and adds more sunshine! I’m wondering who I’ll get to meet next!

  • @ata_grandma - They ARE delightful, aren’t they? It’s such a fun thing to get to do. I look forward to meeting more, whenever that can happen!

  • @redladybug18 - Hi there! Yes, we will have to visit again whe we come over next time. Brianne said “see you in 2 weekds” whe we said our good-byes. I think she meant 2 months, as that’s about when Cru days are. I’m sure we can’t go, though. I desperately want to go back and be in tourist mode for like, a couple of weeks. Actually, I’d love to buy a cottage there. HA! I’m a dreamer! I’m feeling better as far as my head goes. My eye still is swollen and itchy. I probably should go to the eye doc. That’ll have to be Monday. ANYway, I sure do love your spirit and what a genuine young lady you are and that regardless of age, we can be friends. I sure hope Brianne happens to pop into your little artsy place! I just love it there, as you could tell.  As for the little Grands, I get to see them again on SUnday. They sure are cute and funny! Well, you take care. I’ll “see” you around!

  • How wonderful to get the chance to meet! There are several on Xanga that I’d love to meet in person! Hope you get to used to the empty nest and can enjoy it. My kids are all getting older and I dread them all moving out!
Hope your eye feels better! Praying for you!

  • @Richgem - I did not have problems, but my sure did. I encouraged her to develop her painting tslent.

  • @Richgem - you’re so sweet!

  • @SealedbyGrace - Thank you! My eye has improved greatly; almost normal.  I do hope you get to meet some Xanga friends in person. These In Person meets add a whole new dimension to the friendships on here!  ( 8
