Lately, I’ve been seeing the best quotes EVer on Pinterest. I wish I was the brilliant, clever person who thought of them! I also wish I was the one who came up with some of those tasty recipes, the sweet stitchery, the stunning photography, the furniture built from pallet wood, the jewelry made from twirled wire and beads, and the fabulous organizational ideas. I’m just simple Me, going along, trying to copy what I can and not bothering with all the rest. I did, however just make a sandcastle cake last weekend for a baby shower. I’m not finished yet with the photos I took. Life, for me, is better when simple. If I need a blast of interest, I turn to Pinterest.
Exercising continues. Usually 3 times a week. Now, I’ve added some serious walking. Also, more dumbell lifting at home…10 pounds. It’s important to me to get in shape and stay in shape, not only for my beneFIT, but for those around me. As long as my limbs are capable, I’m going to put them to work. As I work out, I pray for those who are not able.
A bit of motivation has slipped away from me in the area of photographing people. WHYYYYY? Fear of failure is one reason. There’s always a better photographer around…is another reason. The stress of completing and delivering a superior product in a timely manner….another reason. AGE? Possibly. It’s exhausting when you put all my reasons together. I feel like the wind got knocked out of me somewhere along the way. I must get a new wind. People want pictures taken. They want ME to do them. To certain people, I cannot say No because I love them. So, the stress continues, but not as badly as if I was shooting someone I don’t want to shoot. Soon, I will be going out to the lake, shooting with friends, just for the delight of it. THAT’s what I love. I also love what I find in my backyard, which is where I got the shots on this post.
I’m grateful for the rain we’ve had, except for it makes our house smell moldy or mildewy. I can’t invite anyone over with it smelling like this. Yes, I’ve tried burning candles and putting bleach down the drains.
A bunch of my family members are going to Disneyland soon. Hubby and I will be here in Ourland, living another day with another opportunity to go through whatever we’re supposed to, being grateful for where we are rather than complaining about not getting to go an a vacation. This is life and we can glorify God in the simplicity of it.

I think you take beautiful pictures!
your pics are beautiful! i love pinterest, but i’ve been trying to avoid it lately–too much time spent looking and not enough time spent doing! i mostly walk–2 or 3 miles each day. sometimes more, sometimes less, sometimes fast, mostly moderate pace. i’ve added the weights recently too–5 lbs. you are right, i also know so many who can’t, so i’m trying to view it as a blessing that i can

photography is at its best when you capture something you LOVE- even if it turns out to simply be a hobby than a business, that ok. God gave you the desire to catch something beautiful. Maybe you were meant to capture nature, not people. Nothing wrong with that. I think I would have a problem with it too. Mainly because some folk cant be satisfied.
Simple Life……..
GO FOR IT!
That’s me and hubby. Dont desire at all to have it any other way. Just being home, content with being home. Even tho sometimes I grow discontented, it doesn’t last very long! LOL
We’ve never had a “vacation.” We took a trip to the ocean to see it when the boys were little, then came home the next day. Our “vacations” always consist of just over nighters – maybe 2 or 3 nights, at the MOST.
There’s just no place like home.
Pinterest, I check it every morning, that’s it. Or I would be there all day!
The photos are breathtaking. I hope you get inspired for your photography again, but you know what? It’s ok if you don’t too. Love that you are working to be content at home. And all the best on staying fit. That inspires me.
Amazing photos. It’s been so long since I just went out in the yard and photographed stuff for fun. I love to do it but don’t get around to doing it as much any more. I end up just taking pictures for the things that I have to.
Yay for you keeping up with the exercising! You’ll be fit before you know it!
Love your pix, they are awesome! I never had a desire to go to Disneyland and never took my kids there. The only vacations we take are to go see the grands for a week and do whatever work they have for us there. I am too much of a homebody to want to go on vacation.
i love the YOU that YOU are. call her simple? that’s fine. but i KNOW she’s talented with an eye for details that reveals beauty the rest of us might overlook.
@bethro78 - Thank you for that, you sweet girl!
@lifeontheWink - Pinterest: too much looking, not enough doing is exactly right.
I do feel happy with myself for the things I do DO…like the healthy water and the exercises and the making the laundry soap and such. I’m glad you’re walking and have added weights to your regime! We can be virtual/xanga walking buddies! Maybe I’ll send out a Have You Walked Today? pulse! Hugs!
@victoriantomboy - I need alot more of your Contentment to rub off on me. As for vacation, right now, I’d be thrilled with an overnighter…run down to the city, do stuff, sleep in a nice hotel, have a nice breakfast the next morning, hang out with family and then come home. I do like my little house, in spite of its quirks and needed work. The ocean….ahhhhh. I ADORE it, NEED it. But, we’re 7 hours away. That’s more than an overnighter trip.
@quiet_hearts - Hey, Sweet friend…YOU inspire ME! I nearly felt a hug coming through along with an extra boost of contentment.
back to you!
@redladybug18 - Oh, I would LOVE to see what photos you’d come up with from your yard or your area…those Just For Fun ones, because you do so well with the I Have To ones! Hugs to you!
@oldfatgramma - You are amazing to go on “vacation” to do whatever work your kids need, and of course, to see your beautiful Grands! I would do that, too, actually. Thankfully, my Grands are near and we do go help there when needed. Like yesterday. I do love visits like that. I am a homebody, too, but then I switch over to I Must Get Out of Dodge mode.
@down_onthefarm - Right now, I am remembering our good-bye where we didn’t want to speak “ggod-bye”….me, fighting tears ‘cuz I thought we’d never see each other again and how SAD is THAT!?! What a blessing you’ve been to me…I have our picture in that frame and that helps. It means alot to me what you say here, like Jesus was here. I love ya bunches!
@Richgem - trust me gal, the contentment comes and goes!
The ocean is about 7 hours from us too. Matter of fact, we had hoped that when we went down for the grandbaby to be born, since their house is only about 3 more hours to the beach, we had thought about traveling on down before leaving. But I dont think the money is going to be there.
But thats alright. The ocean will be there
My idea would be a bed and breakfast- have never done that. Just overnight, then hit some antique stores the next morning before heading home
@victoriantomboy - Maybe another time, you can go to the ocean when you visit your little grandgirl! Going antique shopping (more like looking and admiring) is right up my alley!!! Bed and breakfast? I’d do that, I think. There are several charming ones here in our town. Seems like it’d be fun to stay in one.
@Richgem - yeah, looking will be my thing, but I LOVE going and getting ideas for myself- I can NEVER get ideas on my own!!
Never got to do a B&B….. yet, but I so love the idea of leisurely waking up and letting somebody else fix breakfast! LOL
@victoriantomboy - Thankfully, hubby makes his own breakfast. On Mondays, he goes out for breakfast with his church buddies. That works for me! I make my own oatmeal and mocha. I do remember a couple of rare times when breakfast was brought to me when I was still in bed. What a sweet surprise.
You photos are fine and you exercise program is better that 95% most of us.
I love vacations. lol I think you know that.

A day at home is far preferable to a day at Disneyland! It’s been cooler today — broke records in Lalguna Beach yesterday at 97* and there was a fire today in LB (not sure where — burned only 3-4 acres!). Come and visit when it cools down a bit — it’s supposed to warm up again later this week!
@ANVRSADDAY - Thank you, Frank! You deserve vacations!!!
@slmret - You know I’d come over there in a heartbeat to see you and Jenny and Mary!
Hi Gail,
