The Heart That Cares Too Much
This little square of caramel chocolate is not enough. The mocha that I drank today was not enough. Neither were the eggs scrambled in bacon or the candy corn…and I only bite the chocolate bottoms off of the candy corn. A vigorous session of exercise may have helped. Taking pictures helped. Bible study helped some. Prayer helped.
I care too much. I feel too strongly. Enough about “I”.YOU all brighten this world! So do alot of the people in my In Person world. Take Tara, for example. She is married to my firstborn, Jonathan. She is a treasure, a gift to our entire family, yet she seems to blush when these kinds of affirmation are spoken to her. She has been in our little world since we first met her in 2003 and it’s been fun, a blessing to see her mature and meld into our family while creating her own with our son. She was a great listener today while I was on a bit of a rant about church and what all was wrong with it this morning. She’s encouraging and isn’t afraid to talk to me. Woe to me if I ever became an unruly, controlling mother-out-law.My prayers now are all over the place; hurricane Sandy may blow my relatives’ trees down near Philadelphia or do damage to friends’ lives in other areas. Hopefully, everyone is prepared. Then there are the friends in California who live where the latest earthquake was felt. I always kind of worry about them over there! The friends who are and have been sick, the ones who are very sad for various reasons are being prayed for. Make the most of the good moments while you have them!A funny thing crossed my car’s path in a little intersection in our town on Friday; a man was walking his dog and his donkey. I was reminded that someone else regularly walks a goat right downtown…It’d be fun to have a pig to walk around the Courthouse Square! For now, though, our dog Kilo is enough for our walking companion and won’t cause near accidents for gawkers!

A thought-provoking post, Gail — thanks! I’ve been thinking of friends/relatives in the east all day — but a 3.9 quake in Newhall was far from home, and we didn’t feel it this far south. All is calm here — a lovely day today! Happy week!
yes, i was awake most of the night praying for EVERYTHING. wow. i just took a very deep breath–karen
what a funny site I’m sure to behold the dog, donkey and man walking them
Such a lovely chilly fall day today. So still and nice. It’s like we have winter in the morning and summer in the afternoon
How fun that you and your daughter-in-law get along! That’s not too normal in life to find that.
Blessings on your monday!
Praying for you! I think it’s wonderful that you and your daughter-in-law get along so well!
I’ve got family in both areas as well, so I’m praying hard, too!
Church …..well, it is what it is. I go, worship God and go home! Seems much easier than getting caught up in the mess! Praying for you, sweet friend!
Hi Gail, I hear you. My wife cares too much and tries to fix things for people—especially children. lol She has a big heart, a Mother’s love, patience with her husband, and very spiritual. I am an old retired businessman–that way from birth. lol I make decisions and move on. My weakness of being a passive people pleaser is my Achilles heel. It is often confused for being caring like my wife.
Nice to see you have nice things to say about your son’s wife–that is rare.
Sandy is all Fox News is talking about. Mayor Bloomberg is trying to make his city safe.

@slmret - Hello, my Janet! I’m glad you didn’t feel the quake! I’m thinking alot of us on here are concerned for our people in the east. So far, mine are okay. Tonight could be a different story, but I truly hope it’s all going to be okay with nobody hurt. Take care and enjoy the CA weather!
@lifeontheWink - Karen, you and me both! I was awake quite a long time, praying for everyone who popped into my thoughts! I’m feeling the need for a nap now! Will Sandy have an effect on where you are? Take care and I hope you sleep more tonight, if possible! Something to remember; next time you breathe in through your mouth, think YAH…then when you exhale through your mouth, think weh. YAHWEH…Jehovah! I’ve done that and it’s SO powerfully comforting!
@redladybug18 - Hi, my friend! So, I’m guessing it feels like Fall now? Brianne went camping this weekend with the roommates and their college group. She said it was chilly but she was able to sleep. We’re having similar weather as you. Chilly at night, warm in the day time. I LOVE this weather! I like how you put it; winter in the morning, summer in the afternoon.
Yes, I’m grateful that my daughter-in-law and I get along so well. That says alot for her parents, too. They’re wonderful people and so fun to be around! I am so blessed! Happy Monday and I pray your week goes well!
@SealedbyGrace - I hope and pray your loved ones are safe…so far, mine are. I’m so very blessed that I have a great relationship with my daughter-in-law. God was so good to put her in my son’s path when he did! Church “it is what it is”. I tried the go and worship God and leave. After yesterday, it’s definately not the place I want to return to because some of the “mess” comes right from the stage. Hubby agrees, we need a new church home. Thank you for your prayers! I hope you’re feeling better these days!
@ANVRSADDAY - I’ve decided I’d have fun hanging out with you and Norma! From what I’ve read, I’d love you both! It’s great that you make decisions and move on! I hope your day is going along well. As well as can be expected anyway! Mine is good right now. We have some peppy music on and that makes me move around and get things done, so I’m bouncing in my chair.
I too have been thinking and praying for those loved ones on the East coast. It is beautiful, and hot here. I looked at the view as we drove down the coast this morning and prayed for everyone. Our pastor called an all church prayer and fast this last week, as so much is going on in everyone’s lives. It was good to all join in praying. My MIL was my best friend, I am asking God to continue such great relationships with my DIL’s . My Nick says, ” my wife, your pickle”, as he thinks the abbreviation is funny
Hugs to you girlfriend!
@Richgem - I agree — I’m so glad I live in CA, and not on the east coast! I’m afraid that it will be pretty rough in the east tonight! I had read about the potential for serious quakes last weekend due to the full moon, the closeness of the moon, etc — there have been 2 or 3 major quakes up and down the coast (Vancouver BC the worst). But this storm sounds terrible!!! Be safe in AZ too!
@slmret - I’m glad I don’t live back there, either! Also, I’d heard of quakes and had no idea the position of the moon had anything to do with them! Very interesting!!! We are fine here. Our only fear right now is fire as everything is dry again. Otherwise, we’re good.
@ABAHM - Thank you for the hugs, Jenny! Today I was thinking that a prayer group at a church would be a great idea. There is SO much going on! During the night last night, I prayed again for David and you, thinking you might be on the road again. My older sister is also praying for David; she’s our family Prayer Warrior! She has a friend at church whose 2nd grade boy also has Lyme disease and has to go to Phoenix for treatment. Her eyes teared up when I described David and told her about his suffering. His prayer group gets bigger!
@Richgem - One theory is that the pull of the moon does have something to do with quakes — there was a congruence with a full moon and the moon being closer in its orbit than usual, which would make it’s pull extra strong. Yes — it’s dry here, too, although a little bit of rain last week helped a LOT, even though it came before the Santanas! Glad you’re ok there!
It is nice that you have such warm feelings toward your daughter in law. I am sure she appreciates it.
@slmret - Oh, now I understand! That makes sense! So those winds are active now? Maybe that’s why it’s been breezy here! It’ll get windy here at some point.
Late last week or over the weekend, we had full Santana winds. They’ve slowed down now, and we are about to get some showers later this week. It’s another yoyo streak of weather!
@slmret - That’s a good way to put it…”a yoyo streak of weather”!!!
This is a wonderful post I wish I felt the same way about my son in law although I would never tell Catie about how I feel I hope my gut feeling about him is proved wrong I truly pray that I feel good about their relationship someday…
