…time with a friend at the Hospice House as her loved one went through the process of leaving his earthly body
…money to ensure our needs are met, including hotel rooms when we pick up our “baby” from college
…tears of joy for love lived and life loved
…belly laughs with hubby when we are silly
…the Starbucks gift card for a special foo-foo drink to put more zip into my day
…gasoline to go the extra mile for people in need
…extra gallons of water to ensure the garden thrives
…little bobby pins to hold up the grandgirlies’ whispy stray hairs
…space on the sd card for photos of the grandwonders
…more food to create enough to feed extended family
…sweat on the treadmill to burn the fat cells
…smiles because I have honest joy in my spirit.

Sorry about your friend. Hospice people , in my experience, are so caring and helpful.
I like the term “grandwonders.” Joy in your spirit is the best kind.
loved this post–a reminder of the joys of the simple things in life–karen
We have had Hospice handle 3 of our relatives and did a great job for them and us.
We used to be more careful about spending, but I have talked to my wife about revisiting our budget and spending habits of late.
All the high tech stuff is stressing me along with ID theft, new IRS issues, finding a new church home, etc. I realized that the former simple life was far more peaceful.

A delightful post, Gail — sorry to hear of your friend in hospice, but they do make the end of life more pleasant and comfortable.
Love this. Hugs.
As I started to type….. Love This! I see Beth has commented the same words.
She obviously copied me before I even came over here! She is such a cheater.
@aSeriesofFortunateEvents -
How wonderful to find joy and happiness in the little things in life. =)
Happy Sunday evening to you.
…and I’m sorry about your friend.
@Elizabethmarie_1 - well, we both know I KNEW it was what you would have said.
@ata_grandma - You are right about Hospice people. I was wowed by the compassion!
@lifeontheWink - I know that by having joy in the simple things, I am happier!
@HUMOR_ME_NOW - My hubby and I agreed that if need be, we’d choose our local Hospice house to take care of us and our family members. Those people are amazing! I’ll be praying for you as you continue to deal with your not-so-simple-anymore life.
@slmret - I now know that Hospice is a wonderful thing with wonderful, compassionate people. I was very impressed and amazed by how they make sure the transition goes for all concerned. Even though emotions were all over the place, there was peace.
@aSeriesofFortunateEvents - Even though you took the words right out of Liz’s hands, I’ll thank you for your comment!
@Elizabethmarie_1 - I KNOW…Beth snatched the words right out of your hands! You girls are too funny. I just love you both SO much! This past week has emphasized to me (again) that we all need to make the most of each moment, not just with the people we love, but with everyone in our path. That very day may be their last, and did we do anything to make it sweeter? Ya know?
@Richgem - Your prayers are really, really appreciated.
Have you ever used a bucket at the end of house gutters to collect rain water for your garden? I have a gutter hose attacked on mine and it extends to my flower beds. Works great….just have to hope for rain once a week though. Might be a problem in your town huh? Have a great week!!
excellent post, Gail
Great post, Gail!
@MadraysGarden - We have done that; both bucket and or gutter hose. We haven’t had rain for awhile. Sometimes we go for months without a drop. TODAY, however, after crazy winds, a little rain storm blew through. Just enough to dampen all the dirt that blew around, not enough to collect. I’m glad you mentioned this, though because I do need to make sure my buckets are in the right places. The big one got blown over.
@purpleamethyst76 - @oldfatgramma - Thank you, dear friends! I hope the day went well for you!
WONDERFULLY PUT!
Wonderful list.
When are you coming this way to pick up your kids? We should totally get together again!
@redladybug18 - LOL! I just posted news on your blog! We SHOULD get together! I’ll call you before we leave here on May 1st. Is that ok?
@Richgem - sounds great! What kind of job is Brianne looking for?
@redladybug18 - She’s looking for something in the graphic design field.
@Richgem - I had a friend who was looking for someone like that part time. He lives close to San Antonio but I’m sure he could work things over the phone/internet. Let me know if she’s interested and I’ll see if he’s still needing someone.
So sorry about your friend! Hospice is a wonderful thing when you’re going through such a difficult time. Praying for your friend that lost her loved one.
@redladybug18 - Okay, I’ll tell her. I know she really needs full time, but if the part time can work out over the phone and Internet, she might be more interested if she also has another strong part time one. She’s looking at living in Round Rock.
@SealedbyGrace - Thank you for praying! Services were yesterday and she said totally could feel the prayers…she was able to speak at the podium without falling apart. Huge blessing!
